Peanut butter banana bread is a delicious banana bread studded with peanut butter and topped with a peanut butter glaze. This banana peanut butter bread is loaded with flavor and the perfect way to use up ripe bananas.
This is one of my favorite flavor combinations! Take a moist banana bread and elevate the flavor even more with creamy peanut butter frosted glaze and peanut butter chips studded throughout the banana bread. Grab your prepared loaf pan and get to baking! Try my Oreo banana bread recipe.

How to Make
Full steps on how to make peanut butter banana bread are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a visual walk through.
Step One: First, start by preheating the oven and prepping your 5-inch loaf pan. Then set it to the side.
Step Two: Next you will add your dry ingredients into a bowl. Mix and then set the flour mixture to the side.
Step Three: In a medium bowl beat your melted butter and both sugars for 2-3 minutes. You want the mixture to become creamy.
Step Four: Next add in the bananas and egg. Mashed bananas is key, I like to use a fork to break up the banana and mix with the wet ingredients.
Step Five: Then add in the vanilla and milk. Then slowly work in the dry ingredients. I do like to use an electric mixer for this bread to ensure the banana mixture is fully mixed.
Step Six: Next, fold in the peanut butter chips and the Reese’s Pieces, then pour the mixture into the pan.
Step Seven: Bake as directed. Once done allow the banana bread to cool.
Step Eight: Once the bread is cooled then you can mix up the peanut butter frosting, and spread over the top. Sprinkle the Reese’s Pieces on top and slice and serve.
This is a delicious banana bread with peanut butter recipe!
Variations and Tips
Here are some changes and tips for success you can make to the best banana bread recipe. This is a peanut butter lover recipe!
- Swap creamy peanut butter with chunky peanut butter.
- Place a piece of parchment paper inside the loaf pan to make it easy to lift the quick bread out once the bread cools after being baked.
- Cool your bread in the pan on a wire rack to hep cool all sides of the bread.
- Stir in peanut butter cups that are chopped up, or top with the chopped candy instead of Reese’s Pieces.
- Your center of the bread will take the longest to cook. Use a toothpick to stick in to see if it is baked through. You don’t want any wet batter on the toothpick.
- If the top of the loaf of bread is browning too fast, cover with a tent of foil. This will make sure to not overbake the top of the bread.
- Ripe bananas are a must or you won’t get the banana flavor you want.
Storing
I like to store this banana bread that is frosted in the fridge. I find the frosting and bread last longer when refrigerated. Just place in an airtight container and refrigerate for 4-7 days.
You can also freeze any leftover banana bread. Just cover in foil or place in a freezer container or freezer bag. Freeze for 3-4 months.
