Here are the ingredients you will need for the best shortbread cookie recipe you will ever make!
Butter – You need to make sure to use real butter for this recipe. Not margarine, as it will not give the cookies the right texture or flavor.
Granulated Sugar – This is going to add the perfect sweetness to your cookies!
Vanilla – Vanilla adds a nice depth of flavor to the cookies. You are welcome to swap with an almond extract for a different flavor.

How to Make
Step 1: Preheat the oven as directed and then prep your baking sheets.
Step 2: Next, in a bowl you will begin to cream the softened butter and granulated sugar. Mix for 2-4 minutes or until the dough is fluffy and creamy.
Step 3: Then you will add in the vanilla extract and flour and mix until the dough is combined.
Step 4: Lightly flour a counter or surface and then place cookie dough on the counter. Roll out the shortbread cookie dough. Aim for ¼ inch thick.
Step 5: With a cookie cutter press out your cookies. Then place dough in a cookie sheet.

Freezing Shortbread – If you didn’t know, these shortbread cookies freeze nicely. Just place cookies in a proper freezer bag or container. Freeze 2-4 months!
Freezing Raw Cookie Dough – You can also freeze the cookie dough. I shape my cookies as I normally would. Then place on a wax paper lined baking sheet. Freeze for 1 hour, and once hard remove.
Place in a container, and put wax paper between layers. This prevents sticking. Then bake at same temp just add a few extra minutes to cook time!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Butter softened
- 3/4 cup White Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 3 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 cups White Candy Melts

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease or line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Then with a hand mixer or stand mixer you will cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together. You will mix for 2-3 minutes to get it nice and fluffy.
- Add in the vanilla extract then slowly mix in the flour to incorporate into the cookie dough.
- Once dough is mixed, sprinkle a little extra flour on work surface and roll out the cookie dough to 1/4 inch thick.
- Then use a round cookie cutter and make 40 cookies. Place them on your cookie sheets, and bake for 12-15 minutes or until done. If you need batch cook them.
- Allow the cookies to fully cool on a cooling rack.
- Then in a microwave safe bowl you will heat up the chocolate for 20-30 second intervals and then stir between each heat cycle till melted.
- Dip 1/3 of the cookie in the white chocolate and place on a wax paper lined work space. Then add two leaf sprinkles and a red dot sprinkle. Or decorate as you would like.
- Once the chocolate is set, store the Christmas shortbread cookies in an airtight container and enjoy.
