What is a Gatorade Slush?
A slushie with Gatorade is a Gatorade hydrating drink that is paired with ice and a little sugar. Toss in a blender and create a frozen drink that is a sweet and refreshing drink.
This homemade Gatorade recipe is so easy to blend up, and in a minute or two you have a drink for your kids, friends, or guests.
Ingredients You Will Need
Gatorade – You can use any flavor of Gatorade you want. I have not tried the G2 version of Gatorade for this slushie recipe but I would imagine it would work just the same.
Sugar – Sugar is used to help the ice create that smooth and creamy texture of a traditional slush. Without the sugar, it can leave the ice clumpy.
Ice – So for this recipe use ice that is going to work in your high-speed blender. I find smaller ice instead of larger cubes is helpful so you don’t hurt your blades in the blender.
How to Make
Full steps are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a quick walk-through of how it is made.
- Add ice, and sugar into a blender.
- Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes or until the ice is fully chopped and has a smooth texture.
- Pour in a glass and serve right away! Do as many flavors of Gatorade as you want, or do one single flavor.
Expert Tip: Serve freshly made, or it will melt and water down the flavor.
Variations To Recipe
This can work with Prime, Body Armours, Powerade, or Gatorade. Like I said above I am not sure about the lower sugar count ones but I think it would work.
You can use a different sugar substitute if you need it. The sugar is used to help give it the slushie texture. As blending just ice is going to clump. So if you can keep the regular sugar. But if you need sugar free use a substitute of choice.
Tips For Success
- Making sure you use a high-speed blender is a must. Otherwise, it will not break down the ice as it needs.
- I recommend using smaller pieces of ice to start. You will find some of the ice that is huge pieces could be a little hard on your blender.
- Only make what you plan to drink right away, as it is needed to be served right away or it will melt.
Storing
You will want to make sure you serve these right away, or they will melt and water down from the ice. f you have extra slush you didn’t drink, you can freeze it into ice cubes. Then add to a glass of water or even a lemon-lime soda for a sweet twist. As it melts it will flavor the water or drink a bit.
FAQs
Any flavor will work to make this slush. Now you can do a single flavor or consider mixing the flavors to create a flavor twist.
Feel free to add in fresh fruit and blend it up with the slush. Add in fresh lime or lemon juice, or even a splash of a lemon-lime soda.
If you do not want to use a blender go right ahead and use a slush machine. The biggest thing is to follow the directions on your slushie machine.
