These Sugar Cookie Truffles Are…
- Made with 4 Ingredients
- Quick and Easy
- No Bake Dessert
- Can Be Made Gluten Free
- Perfect For Any Holiday
Ingredients Needed
Here is what I used for making this easy sugar cookie ball recipe.
Sugar Cookies – I used a Pepperidge Farm Sugar Cookie. Any crunchy sugar cookie works.
Cream Cheese – Reach for softened cream cheese for this. It is going to act as the glue sticking the ingredients altogether.
Vanilla – I added a splash of vanilla to help balance out all the flavors.
Chocolate – You can use any flavor of chocolate for dipping. I used white candy melts for dipping. Almond bark works great as well too.
Sprinkles – Sprinkles are optional but they add such a pretty pop of color to your no bake cookie balls.
Various Ways To Decorate Truffles
Sprinkles Add rainbow sprinkles, or any type of birthday themed sprinkles on top of the truffles for birthday truffles.
Colored Chocolate – Another option would be colored chocolate to fit your theme. You can fully dip the truffles or drizzle lines across the top of the truffles. Candy melts are great for colored chocolate options.
Mix-In Items – Mix in items to the cookie truffle center. Sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, etc. This can help give it a fun theme. Crushed peppermint would be delicious for a Christmas truffle idea.
How to Make
Full directions on how to make these sugar cookie truffles are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a visual walk through on how to make.
Step One: Crush your sugar cookies into a crumble. You can add to a food processor to blend it up to crumbles. Or place in a sealed bag and use a rolling pin to smash the cookies to a fine sand.
Step Two: Next add in the softened cream cheese and mix to combine. Add in the vanilla as well.
Step Three: Once your dough is formed, use a cookie scoop and then roll into balls and place on a lined baking tray or on the counter. Freeze for around 15-20 minutes.
Step Four: Next you will melt up your white chocolate. You can use a double boiler or opt for the microwave. I heated in 20 second intervals stirring between each heat cycle till it was all melted.
Step Five: Dip your sugar cookie truffle balls into the chocolate. Shake off excess and place on lined tray to set up. If you are adding sprinkles add them right away as the chocolate hardens fast.
Once the truffles are set up, serve and enjoy. Whether you make Valentin’s Day truffles, birthday, or truffle balls for no occasion. These are so simple, just have fun decorating.
How to Melt White Chocolate
White chocolate is one that can be a little tricky compared to milk or semi-sweet. I like to buy melting wafer or another name for them is candy melts.
I place the chocolate wafers in a bowl and place in the microwave. Then heat at 50% power and do 20-30 seconds. I remove the bowl, stir and place back in and repeat the heating. We do these two steps over and over until the chocolate is fully melted.
If you don’t stir between heat cycles you can run the risk of your chocolate burning, or even seizing up making it unable to use.
Now you do a double boiler option, but it will be a lot more time consuming.
Thin out chocolate by adding in a little oil or even shortening to the chocolate. Just a small amount like 1/2 a teaspoon normally does the trick.
Tool for Dipping Truffles
I love this dipping tool for dipping my truffles. It is great for not wasting chocolate. If you don’t have one, that is okay. Just use a fork or a toothpick. You want as much excess chocolate to drip off before you set it down to set up.
I use this tool for all my no bake treats. Try my peanut butter balls as well while you are at it.
Storing Leftovers
These truffles have to be refrigerated, as the cream cheese will spoil if left at room temperature. Place in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to a week.
Make sure that if you are stacking truffles you place some wax between the layers to prevent them from sticking together.
