How To Make Tater Tot Casserole
To begin, preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease the casserole dish with cooking spray, and set your prepared casserole dish to the side.
In a large skillet, cook your ground beef until it is fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain off the excess grease.
Mix the cooked ground beef, cream of chicken, corn, green beans, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Grease a casserole dish and evenly spread the ground beef mixture on the bottom. Next, add half of the cheese on top of the beef mixture. Place the tater tots on top of the cheese, arranging them in even rows if desired or simply tossing them on.
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tater tots are crispy and the soup layer is hot. Add more time if needed.
Once done, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the casserole and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted and is golden brown.
Serve and enjoy.
Variations and Tips & Tricks
- Season as desired. Add your favorite seasonings to the soup mixture. We like ours simple with salt and pepper, but anything you like should work.
- Swap the soup. Not a fan of cream of chicken? That is no problem; swap it for cream of mushroom soup or cream of celery instead.
- Different cheese works. We used sharp cheddar cheese, but Colby jack, mozzarella, or even pepper jack would be tasty options.
- Shred the cheese yourself. I promise shredding the cheese is simple and tastes way better than bagged cheese.
- Crispy Tots: Make sure you allow your tots on top to get nice and crispy. This will help add flavor and texture to the meat mixture. Adjust the cooking time as needed.
- Preheated Oven: Take the time to start with a preheated oven, and make sure to prep your baking dish.

Storing
You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat it in the microwave or opt to heat it in the oven. You can also freeze any leftovers if you want. You can freeze for 1-3 months in a freezer-friendly container. Then thaw in the fridge overnight, reheat, and enjoy.
