What Is Bread Dipping Oil
Bread dipping oil is an olive oil dip for bread. This is an Italian-inspired dip that uses Italian seasonings and herbs to create the ultimate quick appetizer full of herby flavors. Pair with Italian bread and dip and devour. Pair with a glass of wine and enjoy the fresh bread! Carb lovers are always welcome with this easy appetizer.

Ingredients
Oil – Extra virgin olive oil is what I recommend using for this oil recipe.
Garlic – Fresh minced garlic is going to offer a rich flavor to the toi. You can grab garlic cloves and freshly mince or you can buy a jar.
Dried Herbs – Basil and oregano are the two herbs I used, that offer that vibrant Italian seasoning flavor.
Red Peppers – Crushed red pepper flakes are going to add a kick of spice which is a great addition to the oil.
Salt – Tossing in a pinch of salt is going to help bring out all the flavors of the oil.

How to Make
- In a large mixing bowl add olive oil, garlic, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, and salt.
- Mix well to combine.
- Use right away, or store in the fridge until you are ready to serve it up.

Variations To Recipe
- Fresh herbs can be used in replace of dried for a twist of flavor.
- Finely chop sundried tomatoes and add into the oil mixture for a richer flavor.
- Sprinkle with toasted pine nuts, almonds, or even walnuts for a nice crunch.
- Mix in some parmesan cheese or pecorino cheese for a tangy version.
- Chop up some olives and mix in. You can use green olives or Kalamata.
- Add a splash of balsamic vinegar to the oil mixture.
- Flaky sea salt will add more flavor than table salt.
- Whisk in honey with a sweet flavor to the savory.

Dippers For This Dip
Reach for your favorite Artisan bread, French baguette, sourdough bread, artichoke hearts, fresh focaccia bread, or even more dippers of choice. You will find that this herb-infused oil is a must-try. You can even use this as a light salad dressing to a green salad. This is a good olive oil dip that can be used for many options.
Expert Tips
- Quality ingredients are recommended. I find the better quality ingredients the more vibrant dip.
- You can balance the oil with a splash of lemon juice and salt if you want to have a more well-rounded flavor to your dip.
- Have fun and try out different flavors by adding different herbs and spices to the bread oil dip.
- Stir in some lemon zest for a citrus zing to the dip and it will help brighten up the flavor.
- Raw garlic offers the best flavor. You are welcome to use sautéed garlic for a perfect balance of flavors to the herb bread dip.
- Do not use vegetable oil for this dip.

Storing
Refrigerate the oil for up to two weeks in the fridge. I like to place the dip in an airtight container to help preserve the flavors of the dip. Some do keep the dip at room temperature in a pantry for around 1-2 weeks as well.
I prefer to keep it in the fridge as I find it has the best results. If you store at room temperature place in a mason jar with a sealed lid.
FAQs
Of course. You can use different herbs, spices, and more. Feel free to play around with the ingredients to alter the olive oil herb dip.
You can use this dip for so many things besides bread. Crackers, veggies, use on grilled meats, and the list goes on. The good news is you have endless options to take this dip to the next level.
The olive oil dip can be served up to a crowd easily. I prefer to make this a few hours until I am ready to serve it up to allow the flavors of the herbs to infuse with each other.
