This salmon filet recipe is a success every time I make it. Pair with a bed of rice, cauliflower rice, or more. A simple seafood dinner idea.
You can bake salmon in the oven, or cook it in the air fryer. I will share both directions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.
This Bang Bang Sauce Is…
- Quick and Easy
- Great Salmon Recipe
- Air Fry or Bake in Oven
- Family Friendly
- Carries a Kick of Spice
Ingredients Needed
Salmon Filets – You can use 4-6 salmon filets for this recipe. Or you can more or less if you prefer. I do like to use salmon with skin on one side as it helps hold the salmon together.
Mayonnaise – I do recommend mayo and not Miracle Whip as the Miracle whip can create a very sour taste once it is heated up.
Sweet Chili Sauce – You will find this has a spicy and sweet component to it, that really dresses up the salmon.
Sriracha – Now you can use less if you want a milder flavor, or add 2 tablespoons for a spicy flavor.
Green Onions – These are a garnish but also add a nice flavor to the recipe.
Oil Spray – Use a oil spray for when you air fry to help the salmon not stick to the tray or basket. Aerosol cans can eat enamel off air fryers, so I recommend buying an oil mister.
How to Make
Full steps and directions for this air fryer salmon are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a visual walk through on how to make this bang bang salmon.
Step One: Start by preheating your air fryer.
Step Two: In a bowl add your mayo, chili sauce, and sriracha in a bowl. Mix well to combine.
Step Three: Then spread the sauce on top of each fish filet, and reserve some of the sauce.
Step Four: Place the salmon in the air fryer and cook for 8-10 minutes. Make sure the sauce side is up.
Step Five: Once the salmon is fully cooked, remove, drizzle with remaining sauce and then garnish with green onions.
Oven Method
Preheat the oven at 400 degrees, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the salmon the same way, and then bake for 25-30 minutes. Cook till the salmon is fully cooked, then serve with remaining sauce.
Storing Leftovers
If you don’t eat all the salmon you will want to store in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. You will find that seafood doesn’t store that long so only make what you plan to eat.
You will find this salmon doesn’t freeze well as the sauce can curdle and separate a bit once it thaws from being frozen.
FAQs
Depending on thickness of the salmon you will find the cook time varies. For the filets I used I cooked for 8-10 minutes. Some needed a little longer as they were a bit thicker.
Salmon is a protein that dogs can eat. You will find the omega-3 fatty acids are a great source. The seafood can also help reduce inflammation, boost energy and more. You would not want to include the sauce on the salmon if you choose to give your dog some salmon.
You can freeze salmon that is raw and not cooked. Just place in a sealed container or Ziploc bag, that you remove as much air as possible. Freeze for 3-4 months.
You can eat the skin on salmon but the biggest thing is it will offer a chewy texture. If you don’t want to eat the skin the salmon will just pull away from the skin.
