Texas Trash Dip Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 can refried beans 16 ounce can
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups pepper jack cheese grated
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 can Rotel 10 ounces
  • Green onions optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then grease a deep dish pie pan or 8x8 pan.
  • In a bowl mix softened cream cheese, refried beans, Rotel, sour cream, and taco seasoning together.
  • Once mixed pour the bean dip into a prepared pan.
  • Top with the shredded pepper jack cheese, you can use Mexican or any flavor of cheese you want.
  • Place the Texas trash dip in then oven and bake 25-30 minutes or until the bean dip is warm and cheese is melted on top. Top with sliced green onions if you would like.
  • Pair this warm bean dip with veggies, chips, crackers, pretzels or any other dipping items of choice.

Notes

Cream Cheese - The cream cheese needs to be softened, as this will help in terms of mixing. You can place the cream cheese in the aluminum package it comes with in warm (not hot) water for 3-5 minutes to soften quicker.
Taco Seasoning - Use a packet of store bought or homemade, the choice is yours.
Shredded cheese - I used pepper jack cheese but you can use a Mexican blend cheese, sharp, mozzarella, etc.
Rotel - Rotel is diced tomatoes and green chiles. If you can't find rotel you can leave it out, or do 1 small 4 ounce can green chiles with 1 can diced tomatoes. Drain off the juice, so it doesn't water down the dip.
Adding Meat - You can add in cooked ground beef, Chorizo, sausage, or even diced or shredded chicken if you want.
