Ingredients

  • 3 cups Rice Chex crushed
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 1/4 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating

  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  • First off you want to measure out 3 cups of cereal. Then place in a sealed bag and crush it to a fine crumble. It is okay to have some small pieces it adds a crunchy texture.
  • Add the cereal, 1 cup peanut butter, vanilla and the 1/4 cup powdered sugar in a bowl. Mix until combined.
  • Then use a cookie scoop and then scoop and roll your bites into a ball. I was able to make 20 balls. I used a tablespoon or 1 1/2 tablespoon size scoop. Not sure the exact size.
  • Once all your balls are shaped, place in the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour. You want the balls to freeze hard.
  • Once puppy chow balls are hardened, melt your chocolate chips in the microwave. When the chips are fully melted move on.
  • Dip each ball in the chocolate and shake off the excess chocolate.
  • Place on a parchment or wax paper lined tray or counter.
  • Allow the chocolate to harden a bit then roll in powdered sugar, and enjoy!
  • Store the no bake puppy chow balls in an airtight container on the counter.

Notes

Chocolate - You can use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate. For less sweet do milk chocolate.
Melting chocolate - I melted my chips in the microwave. I just do 20-30 second heat cycles. If you find your chocolate is too thick, add 1/4 teaspoon oil to help thin it out.
Powdered sugar - You can roll each ball or place balls in a bag and add powdered sugar and lightly shake. Either method works.
