Pea Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cups frozen peas thawed
  • 1 teaspoon sugar or sweetener
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup of sharp cheese cut into cubes
  • 8-10 slices of cooked bacon diced up
  • 1/4 cup red onions diced or thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Start by adding your peas, diced bacon, red onion, and cubed cheese into a bowl.
  • Grab a small bowl and add in the sour cream, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix up till nice and creamy.
  • Pour the creamy sauce over the sweet pea mixture, and stir well. Once combined, cover and store for 1 hour in the fridge.
  • Right before serving give a good toss, top with extra bacon if you want.
  • This pea salad is a classic recipe great to serve with dinner, take as a potluck side dish, and more.

Notes

  • Swap bacon with ham or do bacon and ham in the recipe.
  • Frozen peas are a must, as canned peas will become mushy.
  • Add in hard-boiled eggs that are diced up.
  • Make this a pea salad with lettuce, and serve over a bed of lettuce.
  • If the mixture is not creamy enough add more mayonnaise or a splash of milk.
  • Season to taste.
  • You can use white distilled vinegar in replace or rice vinegar.
  • Leave the meat out if you want a vegetarian side dish.
  • You can make this cold pea salad a day in advance of when you want to serve it.
  • Store your leftover creamy pea salad in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
