Ingredients

  • 1 8 to 10 pounds fully cooked, bone-in ham (can use boneless)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 tablespoon prepared ground mustard
  • ¼ cup bourbon + 2 tablespoons
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Then in your roasting pan pour in a cup of water. Now you will place your ham in the pan and baste with 2 tablespoons of bourbon whiskey.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 2 hours.
  • Right before ham is done work on making your brown sugar glaze. In a bowl mix the brown sugar, molasses, mustard, and 1/4 cup bourbon.
  • Baste your ham to coat the whole outside. Put the ham back in the oven uncovered this time.
  • Cook an additional 30 minutes or until your ham reaches 140 degrees internal temperature.
  • Remove the bourbon glazed ham from the oven, let sit 5-10 minutes to cool a bit then slice and serve.

Notes

Slow Cooker Directions:

Place ham and the glaze mixture in a slow cooker. Make sure the ham fits properly. Then cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until it reads 140 degrees. If you would like you can baste a few times through the cooking process.
Cooking Time Varies: Adjust the cooking time depending on how large or small your ham is. Estimate 10 minutes per pound at 325 degrees F.
Type of Ham To Use: You can use a spiral or boneless ham replace to the bone-in ham.
Bourbon: Use any brand of bourbon you prefer. It pairs nicely with the ground mustard and brown sugar.
Covering Ham: You can use a roasting lid to replace aluminum foil if you have that. It will help to prevent your ham from drying out as it cooks.
Holiday Ham or Weeknight Dinner: This is a great weeknight meal, holiday ham, and more. I enjoy making ham here and there.
Freeze Leftovers: You can freeze leftover ham. Just store in a freezer-friendly container and freeze for up to three months. Or if you use a vacuum seal system it extends the freezer life longer.
